GRADUATE STUDENTS APPLYING FOR CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP

NEW STUDENTS

If you are applying for admission to the Graduate Programs of Tsinghua University, you may apply for Chinese Government Scholarship through the following two channels:

(1) For most applicants, please apply directly to the Chinese Embassy or Consulates in the applicant’s home country. The application time is from last November to April of the year (varied for different countries). Please find out the application deadline for your country in advance. 

When filling in the scholarship application form, the applicant should select Tsinghua University as the first priority institution.

Note: The applicants of Chinese Government Scholarship should complete the application procedures of Graduate Programs of Tsinghua University at the same time. The pre-admitted International students may ask for the Certificate of Conditional Offer from International Student Office (ISO) of Tsinghua University, so as to facilitate the application for Chinese Government Scholarship.

(2) For the applicants who are not studying in China, Tsinghua University is authorized by the Ministry of Education of China to nominate and recommend a limited number of exceptionally excellent pre-admitted graduate students as the Chinese Government Scholarship candidates.  The nominated and recommended candidates will receive a confirmation email from ISO in March or April of the following year. Then the subsequent scholarship application process should be followed.

The applicants who are not nominated by Tsinghua University could apply to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate for Chinese Government Scholarship, or to ISO, Tsinghua University for Tuition Scholarships (Beijing Government Scholarship or Tsinghua University Scholarship).

CURRENT STUDENTS

If you are studying in the Graduate Programs of Tsinghua University but have not been awarded Chinese Government Scholarship, you may inquire and apply directly to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in your home country. The application time is from last November to April of the year (varied for different countries). Please find out the application deadline for your country in advance.

All the students who have been granted Chinese Government Scholarship are requested to take part in annual review and submit it together with transcripts to International Students Office in March each year.
