Module overview

This course is targeted at complete beginners. In the class, you will: 
1)Start with Pinyin in order to form a good foundation of Chinese pronunciation.
2)Get familiar with the basic rules of Chinese language grammar and be able to use them correctly.
3)Get to know the basic knowledge of Chinese characters, including radicals, basic strokes, the order of writing characters, etc.
4)Get in touch about 13 topics such as most commonly used greetings, introducing friends to each other, the basic expressions to tell time, asking about price, asking about the characteristics of commodities, ordering food and drinks in a restaurant, asking for directions and describing locations, expressions for taking a taxi and describing routes, asking about the exchange rate etc. Each unit consists of following parts: Sentences, Scenes, Activities, Learn and use, Write Characters, Grammar Self-check.
It is expected that after one semester’s class, students could be able to talk fluently and with confidence on topics learned in class.
